Wow, early post. Also, that is just mean Gengar.

Wouldn't one apple be lighter then another? Like different shades of grey, black, or white?

@Wolfier (Guest)
Darkrai sees in blue.

posted by PJSam on July 16th, 2018, 10:09 pm

@Wolfer
@PJSam

I'm pretty sure Darkrai isn't actually "colorblind", he's just straight-up blind by normal definitions. I think he perceives the world in a way that has more to do with life than light--like seeing only auras, all the time (or something).

Hilarious... Poor Darkrai...*smirk*

BWAHAHAHA!!!
GENGAR YOU LOVABLE PUNK! XD
Honestly, I'd probably do the same thing.

Is Darkrai.. Sticking his tongue out in panel 4.

That's freaking adorable.

For a guy who rejects the typical nature of Ghosts, you certainly seem very comfortable engaging in it, Gengar.

Gengar you trickster. xD

Thousands, maybe millions of years old.

Gets mindscrewed my some kids.

  Weeelllll..

There are some species of apples that are red and green when they're ripe.

Well, this is color-blind abuse.

posted by AndreTheLugia on July 17th, 2018, 7:20 am

@SensingTabby - No. That's part of Darkrai's collar thing. Whatever that's called.

Check back to this earlier page to have a look at Darkrai:

Gangar Is Acting Ghastly

Poor Darkrai, Gengar is being a meanie. I hope Jen helps Darkria separate the green from red apples now.

posted by SmartTurtle04 on July 17th, 2018, 10:41 am

Gengar you troll, but seriously we need to give Darkrai some kind of phone for the blind but in his case something for the colorblindness he has, something that can tell what color something is.

Also look who is in the background.

@Alyss (Guest)

Kind of like the one species of Jedi who don't have any eyes at all, but they all are able to see with the force. Don't ask me where I saw it, I know it was from some starwars book out there or something, or I could be mistaking it for something else.

posted by MercenaryX on July 17th, 2018, 12:52 pm

@Ngamer01
@SensingTabby (Guest)

I think he means the little red thing on his face, not the collar thing, Darkrai could just be talking and it might be his tongue because I don't see any teeth. However there is the possibility that he is only opening his mouth and that the perspective is messing with our minds.

hehehe...

@MercenaryX
The species you are thinking of is called Miraluka.

posted by PJSam on July 17th, 2018, 3:21 pm

@MercenaryX - It's the perspective due to both Darkrai's design and MS Paint limitations that force lessening of details for readability.

From what I've seen in VF when Darkrai's mouth is open, the lower part of the inside of his mouth shares the same color as Gengar's eyes.

The Curious Case of Darkrai

@Ngamer01 @SensingTabby (Guesst) I am certain that Darkrai is opening his mouth. Do you think he can see in Aruora's or Colorblindness? @MercenaryX are Medicham and Gardevoir is the background of Panel 5?

posted by SmartTurtle04 on July 18th, 2018, 11:47 am

@Ngamer01
@SmartTurtle04

So it is his tongue sticking out in a frustrated fashion.

posted by MercenaryX on July 18th, 2018, 12:19 pm

Gengar no, don't stress out the legendary floaty man

posted by spooook (Guest) on July 18th, 2018, 4:44 pm

@SmartTurtle04 & @MercenaryX - Gengar's eyes are reddish-pink. Darkrai's collar is red. The inside of Darkrai's mouth is reddish-pink.

But the only one who can settle this is Sulfurbunny. We'll have to see later if she chooses to answer this matter.

Mossdeep we Have A Problem

@Ngamer01, SulferBunny was annoyed by shippers a while ago, and said that she would no longer respond to any more comments. I just went on Deviant Art and asked.

posted by SmartTurtle04 on July 19th, 2018, 9:12 am

@SmartTurtle04 - I haven't forgotten that. I didn't mean for her to reply here and I know this is too minor to answer in the comic itself.

I was meaning more like after VF is over if she chooses to release anything from behind the scenes of VF when posting to deviantART in the future.

She previously had released some behind the scenes stuff in the early days of VF before focusing on VF in full.

Nice To Hear.

@Ngamer01- That is a good plan. You pointed Darkrai's tounge out, and it bothered me. I already posted the comment on Deviant Art. Considering that is is a tiny detail, should I delete the comment now?

posted by SmartTurtle04 on July 19th, 2018, 4:23 pm

@SmartTurtle04 - Nah, I wouldn't worry about the comment. At worst, there would be no response to the comment.

I could have illustrated the point I was going for better, but I'm limited in what I could do outside posting text.

posted by Ngamer01 on July 19th, 2018, 5:58 pm

At Least I tried.

@Ngamer01 No harm, no foul. I guess we can just ask later on then, like you planned?

posted by SmartTurtle04 on July 20th, 2018, 11:30 am

@Wolfier (Guest) Darkrai isn't techinically color-blind, he sees (as was pointed out by somebody earlier on the page of the apple incident) in a sort of negative, kinda like the negative camera filter.

This is possibly because Darkrai is adapted to functioning at night and moves in the darkness of the full-moon, such vision would certainly help perceive objects better in the close to pitch-black environments when Darkrai is active.

Even biologically speaking-the rod cells of the retina(at least speaking from knowledge of human anatomy) are the ones that function at night, but they cannot perceive color.

Physically too given that color is an expression of reflected light of varying wavelengths, it makes sense that in the dark, one would not be able to necessarily distinguish color.

The blue tint in Darkrai's vision is probably representative of the pigmentation of his eye-and probably his vision turns purple when he's in reverse mode with the purple eyes.

Of course this probably begs the question why Gengar does not have such a vision condition-and since I do not want to ask more questions than I can answer, I can just say that all Gengar are probably far more recent than Darkrai-its possible Darkrai is old enough that he lived in a time where complete Darkness throughout(no Day/night cycles) was common and hence is adapted to it.

I actually did some re-reading and this page perfectly shows the point I was trying for earlier:
http://victoryfire.smackjeeves.com/comics/2553737/629-sunlight/

Maybe this helps end any more confusion for when Darkrai is speaking/opening his mouth vs. when it's just his collar.
