Mewtwo: And what - Hoopa - must I give in return?

Hoopa: EVERYTHING.

Team AWD used Hoopa to get Gengar down the mountain when they were escorting him to Victini. After that, we saw him speculating about Mewtwo from afar and then help him escape from Victini. Hoopa also helped N and Wes get to the PMD world. I think that about covers it. Except that when he was speculating about Mewtwo, he was wondering if he was apart of the 'family' which Hoopa may be apart of and which Darkrai definitely is. It'll be interesting to see what Darkrai has to say about Hoopa in the group discussion.

Also, Darkrai is looking like an awesome grim reaper figure in the first panel. That look is so full of "Why are you messing with my peeps" that I can't wait to see any interactions between the two.

My Darkrai is looking sufficiently terrifying in the first panel. He knows something.

Hoopa is also being sufficiently menacing.

I'll be on edge until Friday!

Have you tried flying up Mewtwo?

Gengar would know hoopa. He can travel between life and death, after all.

Also ooog. Darkrai looks very agitated in that first panel.

Also lopunny the baws
All hail the almighty 'I give no fucks' Lopunny

"FOR A PRICE"
Must've been something Hoopa had planned for long, especially after seeing N wanting to visit him. Mewtwo better play his cards right, because now it's a two pair against a straight flush

I really hope Hoopa isn't holding N and Wes's pokemon hostage.

Did anyone else's mind go to the wrong place when he said "for a price"? No? Okie.....

See, that's exactly how NOT to make someone want to trust you.

I'm having second thoughts on who is the real Big Bad in this comic

Ah-ha!
Mewtwo's inability to sense Hoopa's presence, paired with the strange foggy cloud always surrounding him and his unique typing, may hint at an ability to send an illusion of himself into other places to get what he wants. Perhaps this is because he is trapped inside of the Prison Bottle, and is only able to exist in this Confined Form. Then, following this line of reasoning, Hoopa would be wanting Mewtwo to find the Prison Bottle and release him.

And this is all really stupid and quite far-fetched, which is why I don't speculate normally.

Idk if it's entirely Hoopa being the one in control. In the movie (Yes I did watch it) Hoopa's unbound form seemed like a completely separate entity from Hoopa him/herself, forcing it's influence over Hoopa's mind and body, and making him/her say or do things that Hoopa would never do. I think this is why Hoopa speaks in third person. When he says "Hoopa is what Hoopa is." is the biggest Hint that Hoopa doesn't have complete agency over it's existence, and is 'bound' by certain conditions in order for Hoopa to use his/her full power. This is partly why Hoopa will 'open any door' for a price. He/She can't just use the ability to open portals infinitely. Maybe Hoopa is required to help others proportionately to how many portals he/she wants to open. In other words, Hoopa helps one person, Hoopa can open 1 portal and no more until Hoopa helps another person. Basically, genie rules. But perhaps it is more than that. Maybe this is Hoopa's shadow controlling his/her mind, and it wants to destroy the prison bottle since a significant amount of it's power is still sealed away even after Ash and co helped purify Hoopa's shadow by doing...I'm not really sure. Hoopa kind of just figured out how to suppress the darkness or something.

@WiispNightmare
I doubt this Hoopa is an illusion because team AWD and Wes and N were able to see it. However I do think that Hoopa's plan is to trick Mewtwo in to freeing it from it's bottle. Maybe the reason it settled on Mewtwo specifically is because he's the only one strong enough to retrieve the bottle from wherever it is that doesn't know how bad of an idea that would be.

Yep. It's obvious. Hoopa wants a hug. Nothing more... I swear...

Hah. Hoopa IS Dark... when they're unbound. No wonder Mewtwo can't read them. Nice attention to detail there.

I notice Hoopa changed their stipulation. Either that, or they're being more honest with Mewtwo.
When they were speaking to N & Wes, it was "Hoopa can open ANY door. All YOU need to do is ASK." Here, it's "Hoopa can open ANY door, for a PRICE."
So, is Hoopa just being more honest to Mewtwo since he's possibly "of the family" and "maybe you have what Hoopa has been looking for", though it seems they have settled on Mewtwo as "you'll do".
Reading the other comments, I do suspect it may have something to do with the bottle.
However, given this acknowledges the First Movie as canon, I wonder how much of the Hoopa movie is canon? The bottle wasn't destroyed there, so is that Hoopa's goal? Or is this actually the Shadow, just weakened down to the Confined form?
Relevant comics: 421, 475, 490.
Everyone else is noting it, but I do like Darkrai's death glare. They're very much 'stay away from my friends, imp.'
And then there's Lopunny. She isn't having any of the 'tricked into bad decisions' nonsense. No cares given about what you are, we're talking it out first.

Darkrai being here could turn the tables on Hoopa completely. He has a single-to-double type trump over bound!Hoopa, is barely struggling to keep his Mr. Hyde side under control, and he doesn't seem to be happy with this sudden interference, so there is a possibility that whatever Hoopa's price turns out to be, Darkrai's counteroffer will be "get us all into the tower no strings attached and I won't use your mug for a mop."

Just noticed it's Book 7

  A question and a theory

The first is the theory. My idea is that the reason Mewtwo can't sense Hoopa's presence is that its true presence is in the bottle. Others have surmised the same. An illusion is also possible.

Now the questions is: Is this the same Hoopa that helped before? For example, what if this is a bound form of the shadow Hoopa from the movie rather than the good Hoopa? Perhaps both relating to the same bound version, but one is evil and one isn't.
