Is that baterry or bond metter?

AAAUUGH!

You might as well have punched me in the chest with this one. I felt it like a knife to the heart. I am now sitting here, crying, and it is entirely your fault.

(All of which you should take as a compliment. This is talent, right here, ladies and gents, talent.)

But yeah. Mewtwo Strikes Back was the first Pokemon anything I ever saw, and (according to my parents, I don't actually remember) I bawled my little eyes out when the clones and originals were fighting. Probably while Pikachu was crying, too. I still do, half the time. Poor little Pikachu sitting there, tears streaming down his bruised cheeks, just sobbing, "Pikapi. Pikapi."

AAUUGH I'M CRYING STUPID "COMIC" I'LL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN

*sniff*

OK, if I just don't look, I'll be all right. Once again, you have *talent*

Also, I am now beginning to think that the Plasma device *was* intended to make Mewtwo an emotionless superweapon - "the Pokemon equivalent of a robot", to borrow a line from Spiderman vs. Daredevil - and now the bracelet is freaking out because he's "accessing his memories in order to reprogram himself!"

...Please tell me I'm not the only one out there who's seen that set of episodes at least a thousand times.

Hold onto your butts, nostalgia & feels tsunami incoming!

Now, Mewtwo, are you sure that you were bond to N? Because if recalling that you aren't that person anymore is desyncing you, it doesn't makes too much sense to me

Yay, Ash, Pikachu, and Mew cameo! Hopefully all three of them show up at some point like N did. To be honest though, if Ash, Wes, and N end up teaming up with Mewtwo in this comic, I'll have no choice but to start running around outside screaming in joy like a kid that just unwrapped a limited edition Nintendo 64 on Christmas day lolz.

Okay, Mewtwo's come to his senses, now Victini will probably turn around and blast his face off.

posted by WiispNightmare on July 12th, 2016, 6:12 am

So, I'm a little uncertain what the exact chain of events here is. Did the device start running out of power, causing Mewtwo to start reverting psychologically, or did his burst of empathy cause it to lose connection?

Also, if problems persist and/or a rampaging fire demon child attempts to murder you, try turning the device's wireless setting off and on again.

@PJSam
That's right! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! Let the galaxy BUUUURRRRR-*shot*

But seriously, Victini just tried to corrupt the entire world. You seriously gonna let someone that dangerous go? That would be beyond irresponsible. Think of how many lives you'd be harming by doing that. I know second chances is a thing, but humans are easier to contain than super powerful legendaries.

Actually, just give Victini her V-wheel back. She'll probably become good again just from seeing it lol. V WHEEL!

@?? (Guest)

Victini is also even more dangerous when you remember that she is XD 03 and that the original XD 01 (Shadow Lugia) could only be purified by a proprietary machine that was both set to full blast, and that its existence wasn't known about when they first started the program but it would be safe to assume they took its existence into account when they mad XDs 2 and 3. And lets not forget that said purifying machine DOESN'T EVEN EXIST ANY MORE.

To this day, I still don't understand how being attacked like that would turn him to stone. My best guess is that right before he took his final breath, Brock miraculously opened his stone cold eyes and Ash looked at them, which had a sort of Medusa effect thus turning him to stone lawl.

Here's my question....hes desyncing, correct? What about that "weapon" of a huge PIECE OF EARTH?! That thing is going to fall on Victini soon if he does desync....

@PJSam
Huh, I never played any of the games that have shadow pokemon in them, so that comes as a surprise to me. That's some serious effort into purification. Why would not killing her even be a thought if she is irrevocably evil?

Then again, pokemon tears revive the dead. Maybe Victini can just be like, "Yo, being evil sucks" and she'll be fine. (shrugs) Mewtwo resisted it, so perhaps Victini can decide not to be evil. But of course, she'd have to DECIDE to not be evil.

I love this comic, and Mewtwo can think what he wants, but I always find it strange when people think killing is wrong. Murder is wrong, if a cop or military person kills an evil man with a gun, is that wrong? Heck no, they just saved lives. This situation is similar, except instead of a gun, Victini was wielding a freakin doomsday device. Not sure why killing her is a problem.

Now if she were repentant and willing to change, I could understand. But I'm pretty sure Victini is dedicated to her cause.

posted by ?? (Guest) on July 13th, 2016, 10:02 pm

Or maybe those tears weren't actually tears, and Ash is some kind of vampire who steals the life forces of his traveling companions without them knowing in order to fuel his eternal youth!!! (And this is why he never ages)

But enough of that. I think I might understand why Victini's words were the same as Pikachu's. She lost something, but the question is, what did she lose? Maybe Lovrina is actually dead?

Well, it's either that, or Cipher took away her V-Wheel and plunging the universe into darkness was the only way to get her revenge?

posted by Guest on July 13th, 2016, 10:20 pm

@Guest
Cipher took away her V-Wheel. There's no other explanation. My headcannon is now that Cipher turned her into a shadow pokemon simply by taking away the V-Wheel. I hope Victini tells her backstory sometime and all the pokemon are expecting something dark and sad, and it turns out to be something silly like that lol.

As for Lovrina, I thought Victini was doing this because she wanted Lovrina's attention or affection or something like that. And she lost the opportunity to do so, and thinks she won't get another chance cause impending doom; hence what she lost. I could be remembering wrong though.

Guys, if you keep bringing up Cipher so much, you're going to indirectly tempt sulferbunny to have Mirror B. show up next as a cameo... and I'm pretty sure none of yalls want that. Nope, definitely not. ( I do. )

posted by Dark Matter on July 14th, 2016, 6:18 am

@??: Weeeeelll...killing in that situation may not be wrong, but it's definitely not easy. Cops and soldiers have to overcome the natural aversion to killing another human being, and even if killing was in self-defense or in defense of others, it can lead to serious guilt later on.

There's also a huge difference between a split-second reaction to save your own life or the life of someone else, and *ruthlessly slaughtering a defenseless opponent*, which is what Mewtwo's finding himself doing now. Remember, he's had experience with being merciless and cold-blooded before (*nods towards top of comic*), he doesn't ever want to walk that path again. Especially not when A: Victini is not in her right mind. She's in pain. *She has been through something that has caused her to become the person Mewtwo was.* He was going to destroy the world too, as a result of being cruelly treated by humans. It doesn't make her less dangerous, or her actions less reprehensible, but if Mewtwo kills her now, he will be just like her. Especially since B: she's not even a threat any more, she's half-conscious (unless she IS pulling a trick, which I won't rule out), and C: Mewtwo's been acting as if neither Darkrai nor Victini is completely irredeemable yet. He seems to think that they can both still be saved. Perhaps Victini could be persuaded that there is another way to rid herself of the pain, besides sharing it. He was about to kill her without even trying.

OK, rant over. X)

Edit: Aaaaand...reread the scene in which Darkrai explains what Victini wants: "She thinks if she *shares* it, Miss Lovrina will take us back." Not *quite* what I was remembering (sorry, sulfurbunny!), but still sort of the same idea. I'm still not sure what was meant by that - either Victini has become, in some twisted way, dependent on Lovrina for attention, or she thinks Lovrina can fix her. Still, most of what I said stands.

@ReaderWriterNerd&Geek
How...interesting. I did not know humans had an aversion to killing each other. Is this a widespread sentiment or limited to a minority? Why the guilt? The person they killed wasn't important to them or anything.(Don't worry if you don't know, I'm just curious)

Thank you for seriously responding. That makes sense. Regardless of the practical application of simply removing the "threat" so that it will never be a problem again, Mewtwo is thinking "I don't want to be a weapon again". Plus, it does seem that he thinks that they can be saved, which would be a wonderful thing to push for if he believes it can happen.

Though I don't get the whole "if he kills her now he will be just like her" thing. She's not a threat now, but if he lets her go, she'll be a serious threat that will run amok, infecting other legendaries with this shadow pokemon stuff. When a virus erupts, you contain and kill it so that it doesn't spread.

But then again, from your explanation, it sounds like Mewtwo is thinking short term, and very emotionally. Perhaps he is rejecting the logical part of his brain as the "weapon" part at the moment. To be fair though, if he has a plan to heal the "shadow pokemon" stuff while preventing any other legendaries from becoming shadow pokemon, then go him. No need for unnecessary death.

@Dark Matter
After a quick google search I see Mirror B is a man with an afro. I see no problems with this lol.

@??: I will confess that this is something I heard secondhand, but apparently within the military, you undergo some serious desensitization to the idea of killing someone, to overcome the idea that You're Not Supposed To. Now whether this is a social construct or a natural aversion is a completely different debate, but I know I, personally, would have a very hard time killing another human being, and would have some massive guilt over it. I mean, sure, yeah, I just removed a threat, but it was someone else. Another person. With a life and a past and quite possibly a family, loved ones. That's not exactly like flushing a cockroach (and I get the guilts over *that*, lol).

So, yeah, I don't actually know, but taking another human life seems to be generally thought of as a pretty big deal. Since Mewtwo and Victini are both as intelligent as humans, the same applies to them.

You're welcome; thank you in turn. That was exactly my point: the realization that he had become entirely logical, without compassion, was horrifying. And what I meant by that was if he kills her now, without even trying to save her (as he seems to think can happen), he would be just like what she has become - cold-blooded and without empathy.

I also think that Mewtwo has been seeing himself in Victini. Her situation is, like I said, remarkably similar to his. He wants to pull her away from that. He wants to save her.

And I want him to save her too, because of everything I just said, and also because, throughout the comic, Mewtwo has been referring to Victini as a "child". THAT has some horrifying implications. Sure, she's a legendary, but they probably age differently. In human terms, she might be the same age as Jen, or even younger.
