Character development, everyone.

* Leaving Gardevoir with no regrets.
* ...came back years later to save her.
* Scared, leaving Jen and Kecleon in the water.... but then he came back.
* Going to rescue Darkrai. Who's on verge turning evil. On his own.

Aren't we all Gengar.

Gengar's character has come such a long way! I hope Darkrai's gonna be ok, I'm still worried about what Victini said earlier about him "reverting" D:

And here we can see Mewtwo demonstrating why reading someone's mind during a conversation, while often considered rude, can be very practical if time is short.

You have to save Darkrai! He will be super effective against Victini in case she is still alive!

This just keeps getting better and better!

Edit: I felt inspired to reread the whole comic for some reason. I am completely convinced that this is the best Pokemon fan comic in existence. We've seen so many characters come and go, and we've experienced so many touching moments. The character development is outstanding, and the art style is on point. Sulfur Bunny, thank you for creating such a wonderful comic.

Awww~ Gardevoir is becoming increasingly worried about her old trainer!

Also, I wonder how far Houndoom and his pup have gone. I doubt they would have made it all the way back to the guild in such a short amount of time, but... Maybe they ran into a certain future saving exploration team along the way? It would be pretty awesome if those two teamed up with Gengar at a time like this.

Of course Victini's alive. It's lame to have the main villain killed off just by rubble

Now I'm interested as to "how evil" turning into this shadow pokemon business is. Let's say Darkrai goes full evil. Does this mean he becomes like Victini? If so, that means Darkrai would have a sound mind, and could make allies. This means that Darkrai could potentially still be friendly to Gengar, but just a royal jerk to everyone else.

What is evil anyway? The willingness to hurt others? I would think turning into a shadow pokemon makes you an angry beast, but Victini is aiming to make everyone like her, but she clearly can like and dislike people.

Does this mean that Darkrai wouldn't change as evil except that he's cool with harming anyone he doesn't like? If so, Gengar's not really in danger cause he's about to do something incredible nice to him. And even evil Darkrai would be looking for allies so he wouldn't be a slave to Victini again. He would probably do something like, promise him power or try to break his mind. Even if he wasn't grateful, due to how intelligent Victini is, I'd assume Gengar would still be fine, as Darkrai has no reason to attack him. I'd assume if he went Shadow, he'd go and beat up Victini for chaining him down there, or go give everyone nightmares for giggles.

Realistically, I think Darkrai going evil is a lot less dramatic than it sounds. It means he doesn't value life, but like Mewtwo did, Darkrai can learn to change that mindset. He's not going to turn into a mindless killing machine that's for sure. Otherwise, Victini couldn't make plans, as she'd be a mindless killing machine.

I think Gengar will be fine. Go and be ghost bros with Darkrai!

  PMD Explorer

Darkrai level of evil is "Engulfing the entire world of darkness, stopping time, and turning Dialga mad.... Also manipulating two children to suicide in post game.

Basically no different than Victini who wanted to create a world full of shadow mons, or torturing a pup. Victini's motive is Lovrina. We never found out Darkrai reason in game.

Gah dangit, I love every single one of these characters! I could just watch them talking to each other for years.

  Boy, oh, boy...

I have a foreboding feeling about this...
Also, did anyone else think of JJBA when they read the title?
'Ora'm I going crazy?
(Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

Confirmed: Gengar is nuts.

to the first comment

He is looking for redemption, he wants to be forgiven, he wants to be saved and he thinks by saving someone else it might just save him. Yes it is a bit selfish, but it is still the right thing to do, if nothing else it helps him and motivates him into doing the right thing. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm gonna cry...
Awww~ Gardevoir is noticing Gengar's "take a stand"! He's changed, Gardevoir. Don't you see? You know you still love your old trainer.
