- I don't like author's notes. I'd rather people get to look at the comic page for themselves and come to their own conclusions without any influence from me. However, I have noticed reader unease on both DA and SJ about which dragon N "owned" in Victory Fire, so I want to say something about it.

Whenever there is a storyline difference that depends on player agency, you can assume that VF will take the third option. We've seen this with PMD content. Recall the jail scene in Book 3 where Medicham and Gengar discuss the Player's team. VF did not give identifying information about that team because it is your team--whatever team you used when you played through Red/Blue Rescue Team. You are the canon. (And those of you who have wondered about the damage to Gengar's badge, you did it when you punched him in Sinister Woods, you jerk!)

In VF, a legendary pokemon has legendary powers--which is to say, it is so powerful as to be a thing of legends. It is not something you can or should consider property--unless you're doing it very wrong, which is kind of the whole deal with Darkrai and Victini. At the end of BW2 N releases his dragon, allowing the Player to capture it. It seems plausible that the Player of BW1 could have freed theirs similarly. It would have been a mutual agreement between the Player and the dragon. They came together to perform a task, and when the task was complete, they amicably went their separate ways.

So which dragon was N's, and which was yours?

This is VF's canon: If you had Reshiram, N's dragon was Zekrom. If you had Zekrom, N's dragon was Reshiram. Whichever dragon you got, N got the other.

You haven't gotten that far... yet. The story is still there, nothing stopping it from continuing on. Some day.

Or maybe the story HAS finished, and you just haven't seen the end yet?

Orre man? Hm... that couldn't be Michael, could it? He'd be too young to be called that.

No, they call him the Listener because he's the only one the Night Mother will speak to!

Oh please tell me that Wes is in this story.
Or better yet, have Wes be in this story but make him the bad guy like he was supposed to be in XD Gale of Darkness.

Well, the way I always saw it, is that the anime's interpretation of legendaries made the most sense. In that, they aren't meant to be captured - or if they are, then not indefinitely. As aspects of nature itself, the world needs them to remain free so as to maintain perfect balance and harmony throughout the known world. That is their role.

In a way, even Darkrai's nightmares serve a purpose. In that, without fear, living beings would have no motivation act in courage, or have any need of being protected from the unknown - And those who hold no inner terror in their hearts are already strong enough to stand on their own without the assistance of others.
