This picture is so very beautiful. It brings up memories of me playing Gale of Darkness.

Game cube!

That's a nice spread page. Though I don't think Lugia is actually that big.

@PJSam - yeah, it's exaggerated for effect (and also supposed to be forced perspective, but I suck). Though we should remember that Lugia -was- big enough to physically relocate the SS Libra from the ocean to the desert...

I can't imagine being related to somebody like Lovrina, much less being her sister! I wonder how poor Jen is taking this... :(
@Seiryuu no Kibachiyo YES. It really does.
@sulfurbunny Would it be possible that some of the folks that worked on the Mewtwo project from Team Rocket might have joined the Cipher project? Those that survived the explosion when Mewtwo woke up that is.

Ive tried to finish PokemonXD three times, each time I seem to somehow screw it up royally. Don't worry Lugia! One day I will save yu! :(

@Morzone hey it was worse for me I 100% gale of darkness...my memory card apparently died and courrupted the save after freeing lugia :(

"They will not attack humans."
Not attack humans
...
Uhhh remember Lance? In pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal? Yeah...he had Dragonite hyper beam a human. And in Emerald a Zigzagoon attacked the professor. And in the show humans are attacked by pokemon pretty regularly. Not to mention all the ghost pokedex entries. Jellicent for example will sink your ship if you enter it's territory.

@?? I believe Mewtwo meant that Pokemon will not attack humans for no reason at all, as in simple blind "kill whatever is in front of you" type rage. All of those listed Pokemon had reasons, whether it was that their trainer, Lance for instance, would tell them to attack or simply defending themselves and their home, they didn't attack mindlessly. "They will not attack humans." means that they will not attack humans unless they have to. The "closing of the heart" process, well, closes a Pokemon's heart so that they no longer have any love for any living creature and thus will attack whatever they see. It's kind of like when an animal gets rabies.

@GreyWolf - I wouldn't want to tell a guy with base 154 spatk that he can't make up words when he wants to. :B

I always thought Lugia was more moon-y than ocean-y.

posted by Kinmotsu_no_Yoryuu on March 26th, 2015, 12:29 am

@Kinmotsu_no_Yoruu Lugia, when first encountered, lives in a cave that extends below sea level and is described as having mastery over both ocean currents and whirlpools; additionally, his silver feathers shine in the light of the moon, which controls the tides. As a converse comparison, Ho-oh's primary attack is a holy flame, he's based off a phoenix (sunbird), and he leaves a rainbow as he flies, which is refracted light. In a many cultures, the moon and the ocean are connected, as are the sun and the land.

  @Goosygander

You make an excellent point. And for the most part I agree with you, with a few exceptions. (You haven't beaten me yet!) Observe, Gourgeist's pokedex entry: "It enwraps its prey in its hairlike arms. It sings joyfully as it observes the suffering of its prey." (Pkmn Y) You would think it means Pokemon, until you read Pkmn X's entry mentioning that it wanders streets, as in human areas. Gengar also attacks humans for giggles. "The leer that floats in darkness belongs to a Gengar delighting in casting curses on people." (Pkmn Black/White) While for the most part you are right, saying ALL pokemon follow these rules is not true. And why would it be? Humans can be sociopaths, why not Pokemon?

@ guestwhodidn'tgiveaname: true about the ghosties, they tend to be a bit more malevolent on average. Note that Gengar had a chilly reception from Graveler in Book 2 for that reason, and the other two gengars we've met in VF were total jerks.

Even though this comic is unofficial, it ties in so many games together! The main series, Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Ranger, and now Coliseum? This is getting better by the page!

And that boys name was ash...

posted by gavin (Guest) on August 29th, 2015, 11:23 am

To the comment above...

No, that was not Ash in any way. In the Gamecube game, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, your character frees the heart of Lugia after he captures it. If I remember correctly, you had to Purify every Shadow Pokemon first.
