- Hi guys.

I'd make this a newspost but I'm not convinced anyone ever sees those (do people even get notified about them?), so I'll just leave it here:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION about the status/future of the comic in 2015.

tl;dr we're doing something cool, hope some of you might be up for joining in.

Sounds like something the equivalent of PETA in the Pokemon world would say. Not that it's wrong to say so, since it's been known from day one that Pokemon fights have been sentient animal pit fighting. Love this page, though, because playing with perspectives is something I enjoy.

It's all about perspective :3

@sulfurbunny: Some people see news posts, but there's no real notification of new ones like there are with comic updates. It's a little stupid.

I never thought of it like that... That's kind of depressing, actually...

@Luigi_96 - that's what I figured, but thanks for the confirmation. From now on I'll just use comments on new pages to let people know when there's something happening, since those will have a better chance of getting noticed.

@smartboyathome - That's what Victory Fire is about at its core, the relationship between human and pokemon and what happens when that goes wrong. Not that I'm of a PETA viewpoint myself but everything gets delightfully morally complicated when the pets are sapient...

I guess some Pokemon will always think of their trainer as its partner, regardless if they're a good trainer, or a total prick. *cough**cough* Paul *cough*

I take it that this is before the Gardevoir mission then?

I honestly had not thought about Pokemon trainer/pokemon relationship in this way...sure, I've thought about how there are the people that abuse pokemon and the people who forget about how to handle their pokemon and the loving and caring trainer, but I never thought of it as the trainer pushing the pokemon till they can no longer do things for themselves...
On a slightly different note, has anyone been getting downloads when they come onto this site? or on any site on smackjeeves for that matter?

@Goosygander - probably a dodgy advert. SJ's Admin will find and get rid of it sooner or later. You don't see ads on SJ pages if you login so you could evade them that way - or just install adblock, I suppose. Though I like to support the SJ folks and give them my ad views.

I don't think it really has to be said, but don't install anything that tries to download itself onto your machine, ever.

  Did it?

Pardon me for asking, but I made a comment not too long ago Titled "The problems of having a trainer" and I was wondering if it inspired the dialogue in the first three panels? Because it sounds pretty similar to what I said, I am not accusing you of copying me (heavens,no), I would just like to know, did it?

@mymom2000 - Very unlikely, especially if your comment was recent. I don't recall it to be honest - where is it? More to the point, to ensure timely and reliable updates we maintain a large buffer, which means doing the pages quite a long way in advance: in fact I've just finished page 334! This one would've been done well before Christmas, at the least.

The relationship between humans and Pokemon, and what happens when things go wrong in that relationship, is one of the core concepts in Victory Fire. There are references to this element from Gengar, Kecleon, various characters, going all the way back to the start of the comic.

I find it funny that the negative view of Pokemon Trainers comes from none other than the worst trainer.

@Axies - well, he'd know, right? :D
