Sorry for another question but what made you want a none evolving protagonist.

@Imperial - We like Gengar too! :)

It's fairly well established that personality changes are common when a pokemon evolves. What that would do to a human in a pokemon's body, we weren't sure. We felt it was important for Jen a) to not start off in a powerful form i.e. fully evolved, and b) to be able to reach her full potential without requiring evolution which might push her further away from her humanity.

Well I really like the ideas you come up with as they're always so outstanding Sulfur^_^

@sulfurbunny

heh, ya know that's an interesting concept right there, thinking about it i reached 3 conclusions.
1) i assume Arceus had a hand in Human => pokemon transfers, so he can prevent any mental problems from the start through evo.
2)The humans mind is naturally assertive and nothing happens.
3) they develop a split personalty (a charmander would be a great to do this with)

the last of the three is a great idea for Character development and would create a sub plot to allow the story to become more complex, but in a good way.

(4... their personality changes and you can use that to the story's progression)

Fighting against your self and the shadows of your fear. Hmm... makes me wonder if the transfer from human to pokemon is determined by personality type like it is in the explorer games... would that mean that all gengars are cowards at heart? It also curious that he (I think gengar is a he) never give his name out, like he's running away from himself.

In response to Ziliath's now-four-year-old comment: I came up with a fourth option. You see, the idea that every pokemon of the same species would have exactly the same personality and habits can sort of work if you start with the assumption that pokemon are just superpowered animals, but even then, there will be some variance, and the main games acknowledge this through "natures" that affect stats. If we start with the assumption that pokemon are sapient species, it makes very little sense at all, since that's when things like morals and differing experiences come into play. Evolution might bring different instincts, but the tendency to act on them would very definitely be tempered by the pokemon's pre-existing decisions, beliefs, and experiences. Though, on the other hand, Lombre in the original PMD was worried about becoming carefree upon evolution when it became possible again, so who knows. But then on the other other hand, that's the only time that I know of that Lombre have been portrayed as worry-warts, so who knows.
